A SPEECH BY SHEIKH ABDUL-KARIM ZIDAN AT THE CEREMONY OF ESTABLISHING A COLLEGE LAW AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BAGHDAD
A SPEECH BY SHEIKH ABDUL-KARIM ZIDAN AT THE CEREMONY OF ESTABLISHING A COLLEGE LAW AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BAGHDAD Kalimat alshaykh eabdalkrim zaydan fi hafl tasis kuliyat alhuquq bijamieat baghdad Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, and may blessings and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family and all his companions . The College of Law, which has become - its name is the College of Law - has a great influence on me due to my close relationship with it, and it went through two stages (the first) in which I was a student until I graduated (and the second) in which I was a teacher. And what I noticed was that I demanded the seriousness of teaching with the professors, with their keenness to benefit the students, and their method of explanation was easy, free from complexity and deviating from the subject of the lesson. The students met the seriousness of their teachers as seriously as it was, and even wider than it, they were eager to attend the times of the lesson. With explanations, they were as if they had a bird on their heads, so that no clamor, speech, or comment was heard to them, looking to their teacher explaining the lesson, listening to what he says, even as if the classroom is a courtroom where the attendees do not speak but look at the action of the argument and listen to what the litigants or the president of the court say . And when I was appointed as a teacher in the college on 1-10-1960, I was assigned to teach the subject ((Introduction to studying Islamic law)) for first-year students, And the subject (“Usul al-Fiqh”) for fourth-year students. The first article was written “The Introduction to the Study of Islamic Law”). For the second article, the book “Al-Wajeez fi Usool al-Fiqh” was written for its methodology, and there was no mockery in it or a departure from its topic With the simplification of the phrase and the method of explanation free from complexity. The students were keen to attend the lessons on time while fully listening to what I said in the explanation and the explanation of the lesson material. In Usool al-Fiqh, I was keen to set proverbs from the texts of man-made laws and their interpretation in the light of the rules for interpreting legal texts that are among the contents of the article (“Usul al-Fiqh”) because these rules were established by the scholars of the fundamentals of fiqh to control and correct the interpretation of legal texts and what is correct to construct or derive from rulings Or indications of judgments,These rules are necessary for the correct interpretation of the texts of man-made laws and the provisions that can be based on or deduced from. These rules are also necessary for the interpretation of contracts and contracts between individuals and in the drafting of the texts of treaties that the state concludes with other states . . Finally, I suggest adding an article called ((Jurisprudence Rules in Islamic Law)) because these rules are important in devising rulings and they are valid within the scope of interpreting the texts of man-made laws and building judgments on them and extracting them from them, such as ((the original clearance of duty)) and ((certainty does not disappear with doubt) )) And ((Neither harm nor harm)) and ((harm shall be removed)) and ((harm remains similar)) and ((harm shall not be out of date)) and other rules . Finally, I hope that the old name we are talking about will be returned to the college, which is ((Faculty of Law)) and leave the new name for it, which is (College of Law ). And our last prayer is praise be to God, Lord of the worlds ,,,,, Prof. Abdel Karim Zidan Ramadan 12 1429 AH corresponding to 9/12/2008 AD
